CoEng Guest Lecture: Exploring the Artificial Intelligence Landscape

We invite you to join us for a special guest lecture on artificial intelligence. This presentation is not just for computer science or engineering majors, so invite your non-CoEng friends too!

Abstract

What do we mean when we say "AI?" To truly grasp what's involved, you need to ask detailed questions about the specific AI technologies being used, their relevance, impact and benefits. It's important to move beyond the generic term "AI" and understand the actual work being done. By gaining a broad, high-level understanding of various AI technologies, you can better assess their potential benefits for your own projects. This talk will help you get a clear picture of the AI landscape, including global industry and government initiatives and showcase some innovative applications.

Special guest speaker

Ramasamy Uthurusamy, Ph.D., Purdue University, is an expert in AI, machine learning and knowledge discovery. He retired as a technology executive from General Motors, where he led emerging technologies, and previously advanced applied AI research at Exxon Production Research. He has taught at Purdue, the University of Idaho and Oakland University, and is an IEEE Life Fellow and ACM Life Member. Uthurusamy has received multiple awards, including the AAAI Distinguished Service Award, and has significantly contributed to AI and KDD conferences and editorial boards.
