SE Career Services hosts successful Safety Career Fair

Over 20 firms in various industries came to the Hallie McKinney Ballroom on Wednesday to recruit and network with students at the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Safety Career Fair hosted by Southeastern Oklahoma State University Career Services.

The Occupational Safety and Health major at Southeastern has routinely produced high-level graduates for the workforce of Oklahoma and the greater region. Numerous companies sent SE alumni as their representative and were also recruiting for potential positions in fields outside of safety.

While construction firms with high need were a majority of the companies represented, there were also energy, manufacturing, engineering, insurance, agriculture, and wholesale trade companies in attendance. Many companies scheduled interviews with candidates on campus later in the week.

Exhibitors and attendees also heard a speech from Southeastern senior Cameron Byler who is the recipient of a scholarship which was contributed to by Safety Career Fair exhibitors. Byler is on track to be the first college graduate in his family.

SE Career Services hosts multiple career fairs throughout the year to connect employers with future graduates and SE alumni who are prepared to enter the workforce and contribute immediately.

"We appreciate the many potential employers who have recognized the benefit in having a Southeastern alum as an employee or current student as an intern," said Stephanie Davison, Southeastern Executive Director of Career Services and Alumni Relations. "The legacy of quality employees who have come from networking at our Safety Career is evident in the amount of alumni who were company representatives today. We are so proud of the programs under talented faculty and staff who have produced students and graduates who can immediately contribute to our workforce."

The Career Services office is always open to students, alumni, and employers with more information available at www.SE.edu/careers.
