County Fights Mosquitoes From the Sky

Go along with the County Vector Control team as they use a helicopter to keep mosquitoes under control, protecting the public from diseases the insects could carry including West Nile Virus.

Inspections and treatment at lakes, river valleys, lagoons and other sources of standing water take place throughout the region, by air and on the ground. The treatment is safe. It gets rid of mosquito larvae, with no risk to people, pets, wildlife and plants.

Mosquito season starts in April and goes to about October. You can help prevent the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses by wearing long sleeves and pants when spending time outdoors, removing sources of standing water around your home and more.
