Metro Office Closures on July 4 & 5

Offices of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in observance of Independence Day. In addition, several Metro Offices will close for a full or partial day on Friday, July 5.

Agencies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, such as WeGo Transit, Emergency Communications (911, 311, hubNashville), the Office of Family Safety's Family Safety Center and Jean Crowe Advocacy Center, as well as sworn members of the MNPD, Sheriff, Fire departments and other emergency responders will continue to be available throughout the holiday.

Metro Offices that will be closed Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5 include:

  • Davidson County Clerk's office
  • Juvenile Court Clerk (Juvenile Justice Center will remain open for emergency dockets)
  • Mayor's Office
  • Metro Arts + Culture
  • Metro Codes and Building Safety (representatives will monitor phone calls and emails)
  • Metro Finance (essential staff will report)
  • Metro Human Resources (benefits representative will monitor calls for any urgent needs)
  • Metro Legal
  • Metro Public Health Department
  • Metropolitan Sports Authority
  • Metro Water Services
  • Municipal Auditorium
  • Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT)
  • Office of the Assessor of Property
  • Office of the Metropolitan Trustee
  • Office of Nightlife/Beer Board
  • Juvenile Court will operate with only essential functions (Preliminary Hearings and Detention dockets). Safe Babies Court will have one hearing at 8:30am in Courtroom A, preliminary hearings will be held at 9am, and the Detention Docket will be held at 10am.

Metro Departments operating for a partial day on Friday, July 5 include:

  • The Metro Action Commission main office will close at noon on Friday, July 5.
  • The Office of Homeless Services coordinated entry staff will work through noon on Friday, July 5.
  • General Sessions Court will close most functions at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 5, including the Traffic School office, Administrative Office, and specialty court staff. All regular court dockets will operate as normal. If a docket has not concluded by noon, essential staff will remain as long as needed to conclude the docket. Night Court will remain open and operate as normal.
  • Metropolitan Clerk will close at 2 p.m.
