LBPD Blotter - Nov. 22, 2024

Hit Shooting - 600 block of Elm Avenue - On Nov. 21, 2024, at approximately 10:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Elm Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for his injuries. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was with a group of male subjects, when they got into a physical altercation with second group of male subjects. During the altercation, a male adult suspect from the second group discharged a firearm towards the first group and struck the victim. No other injuries were reported. The suspect was still on scene when officers arrived, and he was arrested and transported to Long Beach City jail for booking. The suspect has been identified as Angel Jiovanni Pheang-Chavez, a 19-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked on one count of attempted murder. Bail was set $1,000,000. The investigation is ongoing.
