MONDAY, July 22
4:00 p.m. - Meet and Greet at CSU Extension Office

The Board will attend the Meet and Greet to welcome Heather Houk as the CSU Extension Horticulture and Agriculture Production Specialist to La Plata County. The CSU Extension office is located at 2500 Main Avenue in Durango.

TUESDAY, July 23
8:30 a.m. - Executive Session

Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4), upon the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the quorum present, the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss the following matters:

  1. For purposes of the Board receiving legal advice on specific legal questions pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(b). Purpose: Intergovernmental agreements with municipalities and adjacent counties to house inmates at the La Plata County Detention Facility.
  2. Determining positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations; developing strategy for negotiations; and instructing negotiators pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(e). Purpose: Intergovernmental agreements with municipalities and adjacent counties to house inmates at the La Plata County Detention Facility.

10:00 a.m. - Business Agenda Meeting
The Board will consider:

  1. Approval of county cash requirements as prepared and posted by the Finance Department and direct staff to publish.
  2. Approval of Resolution No. 2024-24 cancelling taxes due from Atom Petroleum.
  3. Approval of Resolution No. 2024-27 adopting a program to prevent harassment and discrimination.
  4. Approval of participation in the Kroger Settlement Agreement as part of Colorado's Opioids Settlement Memorandum of Understanding with the Colorado Attorney General's Office.
  5. Approval to submit the Local Government Limited Gaming Impact Grant Application.
  6. Approval of a letter of support for the La Plata Healthcare Improvement Coalition's creation of a community care hub called La Plata Cares.
  7. Consideration of Resolution No. 2024-25 amending Section 42-32 of the County Code to require notice to the Southern Ute Indian Tribe before reviewing and approving any Chapter 42 special event permit when any portion of the event is proposed within the exterior boundaries of the Southern Ute Indian Reservation.
  8. Ratification of Natural Resource Damages offeror registration form for Bonita Peak Mining District Superfund Site Damages Assessment and Restoration projects.

11:00 a.m. Counties and Commissioners Acting Together (CCAT) County Revenue Authority Group Meeting
Members of the Board will attend the County Revenue Authority Group virtual meeting, hosted by CCAT.

6:00 p.m. - Joint Work Session with Town of Ignacio Board of Trustees
