Here’s What They’re Saying: Ohio Media Highlights Brown’s Successful Fight To Bring Jobs Back To Ohio Valley

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In August, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) met with Ohio Steelworkers and manufacturers in Warren, OH and Weirton, WV to push for crackdowns on unfair trade practices and bring 600 jobs back to the Weirton-Steubenville area.

In Weirton, Brown visited the site of what will be a new transformer manufacturing plant that Cleveland-Cliffs announced last month, which WTRF 7 called "a move Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown helped make happen." Brown successfully pushed the Biden administration to fix bad energy regulations that would have hurt the domestic production of transformers. WTRF 7wrote that "Brown took on the Biden Administration and pushed for the Department of Energy (DOE) to change regulations that would prevent investments in American made transformers like this one from happening."

WTOV 9highlighted Brown's efforts to "bring people back to work," after the former Cleveland-Cliffs tin mill idled earlier this year, writing that "Brown, along with representatives from the United Steelworkers and Cleveland-Cliffs, was able to negotiate a deal to bring transformer production to the Ohio Valley."

In Warren, WKBN 27reported that Brown "is calling on the Biden Administration to put a stop to unfair trade practices in the aluminum extrusion industry," and the Tribune Chronicle noted that Brown "told a crowd of more than 100 union members that he has stood up to presidents from both political parties to change bad trade policies."

Brown joined aluminum manufacturers and extruders to push for a crackdown on unfair trade in the industry that's hurting Ohio workers, including Leetonia, Ohio-based Pennex Aluminum.
