Online applications and payment services for business taxpayers experience a two-week suspension, alternative options available

Birmingham, AL - The City of Birmingham recently announced its partnership with HdL Companies to transition to a more user-friendly online experience for existing businesses. HdL is a leader in providing technology-driven resources and has decades of direct experience in municipal finance, budgeting, and economic development. Businesses already registered within the city's tax and license system must enroll in this new network here in order to conduct all future tax and license transactions online.

There is a two-week suspension on online applications and payment services. During this period, businesses will retain three alternate payment methods:
-Apply for a new business license in person at the City of Birmingham; 710 N 20th St; Room TL-100
-Remit your forms and payment in person at the City of Birmingham; 710 N 20th St; Room TL-100
-Mail your forms and payment to the City of Birmingham; 710 N 20th St; Room TL-100; Birmingham, AL 35203
-Taxpayers currently registered with the State of Alabama (MAT) system may continue to remit their sales taxes as required via this online system. The city has converted its accounts with the State of Alabama and remittances will be received directly and applied to accounts as remitted.

Tax and License Division staff will provide in-person support in the lobby of City Hall, located at 710 20th Street North. Their office is located on the first floor of City Hall in Room TL100.
