Press Statement

Antony J. Blinken, Secretary of State

December 10, 2024

Today, President Biden nominated five exemplary Foreign Service Officers to the title of Career Ambassador, the highest rank in the Senior Foreign Service. When confirmed, Assistant Secretary Daniel J. Kritenbrink, Assistant Secretary Geoffrey R. Pyatt, Ambassador-at-Large Elizabeth Richard, Assistant Secretary Todd D. Robinson, and Assistant Secretary Alaina B. Teplitz will join the 64 other officers promoted to this distinguished title since 1955.

I would like to thank Daniel, Geoff, Elizabeth, Todd, and Alaina for their distinguished years of public service and dedication to the United States of America and Department of State. Throughout my tenure as Secretary I have deeply valued their advice and insight on the most pressing and challenging issues in regions all around the globe.

America is a stronger, safer, and better place because of their efforts. The Foreign Service and the Department of State owe each one of them a special thanks for their tireless work. American diplomacy will greatly benefit from their continued service.
