Renowned ballerina continues sharing what she loves

Brookdale resident Chellie Zide-Booth has long hung up her ballet shoes but has yet to leave the stage. The 86-year-old, who calls Brookdale Chambrel Williamsburg home, fell in love with ballet as a young child. At just 16-years-old she joined the influential Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and went on to travel the country and world as a professional ballerina.

After an injury, Zide-Booth transitioned to teaching and staging ballets at multiple dance companies. Recently, she staged a ballet for the Pittsburgh ballet school. She has also shared her love of the arts with fellow residents at her Brookdale community. For Holocaust Memorial Day, Zide-Booth put on a play at her Brookdale community.

Zide-Booth considers herself very lucky to continue doing what she loves, saying "I never felt like you choose ballet, it choses you. "
