Cragin Park To Close Aug. 7 For Year-long Renovation

New Soccer Fields, Baseball Field, Kinetic Playground & More Coming To Cragin Park

Cragin Park, located at 984 Hinson St. in Las Vegas Ward 1, will close Aug. 7, 2024, for a renovation that is expected to take about a year to complete. The renovation will include two new synthetic turf soccer fields, additional natural turf space, baseball field with new lighting and amphitheater seating, trash enclosure, kinetic playground structures, sports lighting, fencing, signage, landscaping, drinking fountain, picnic areas and perimeter walking path. The existing restroom building will remain. For safety, the park will be fenced at the start of the renovation. See the upgraded park rendering.

Area residents and those attending Hyde Park Middle School can expect utility work and lane restrictions on Hinson Street during the project.

The park, located next to Hyde Park Middle School and Fire Station 5, was built in 1958 and named for Ernie W. Cragin, mayor of Las Vegas 1931-1935 and 1943-1951.

CG&B Enterprises is the contractor. The renovation budget is $10,885,288, with funds provided by the city of Las Vegas. The park is expected to reopen by the end of summer 2025. Those with concerns during construction should call 702.229.5379.
