New Title IX guidelines in effect as of Aug. 1

Today, the U.S. Department of Education's 2024 Title IX Regulations go into effect.

The University Policy and Procedures Manual has been updated to reflect the new regulations with revisions to University Administrative Policy (UAP) 2720: Equal Opportunity and Prohibited Discrimination and Related Misconduct (Interim), UAP 2740: Sex Discrimination Including Sexual Misconduct (Interim), and new policy UAP 2760: Pregnancy or Related Conditions (Interim).

Revisions to the existing policies, and creation of the new policy were approved under the abbreviated policy revision process as "minor in nature and either requiredby regulatory changes or necessary to conform to current practices," as described in Section 5.1 of UAP 1100 ("Development and Approval of University Policies").

The revisions conform with several new regulatory requirements, that were mandated by the U.S. Department of Education to be in effect on August 1, 2024. The policies continue to be labeled "Interim", and will undergo the regular policy revision process, to include an all-campus review and comment period, later this year.
