Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Issues Statement on Governor Newsom’s Executive Order Regarding Homeless Encampments

LOS ANGELES, CA - JULY 25, 2024 - The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement regarding Governor Gavin Newsom's Executive Order directing state agencies to address homeless encampments.

"The L.A. Area Chamber has long been committed to working with the community to effectively address the issue of homelessness in the City of Los Angeles with safety and humanity. Governor Newsom's Executive Order, following the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in Grants Pass v. Johnson, empowers local governments with the authority and resources to tackle the ongoing crisis," stated Maria S. Salinas, President & CEO, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
