Two Memorial Hermann Leaders Named to Becker’s 2024 List of ‘Black Healthcare Leaders to Know’

Memorial Hermann Health System is proud to announce that Senior Vice President and Chief Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Officer, Toi Harris, MD, and Teal Holden, Senior Vice President of Ambulatory Services, Post-Acute Care and Community Health have been recognized on Becker's Hospital Review's 'Black Healthcare Leaders To Know 2024' list.

According to Becker's, the executives featured on this list were selected for their efforts in shaping the patient experience, educating and training the next generation of health care providers, and furthering equity and inclusion.

"Dr. Harris and Ms. Holden are shining examples of mission-driven leaders who are committed to creating safe, supportive and equitable environments in which every member of our community - within and outside of our hospital walls - feels valued and welcomed. Recognition on this Becker's list reflects the significant impact of their leadership."

Dr. Harris has been instrumental in integrating EDI principles across all levels of Memorial Hermann's operations which has yielded increased employee engagement through a variety of initiatives and programs led by her team that include the establishment of employee resource groups, EDI-focused rewards and recognitions, and educational and community service opportunities. Under her leadership, the Memorial Hermann Institute for the Advancement of Health Equity was launched in 2023 to address health disparities through innovative research and community-focused initiatives.

Holden oversees more than 100 outpatient locations and leads Memorial Hermann's community health strategy. As a co-founder and co-chair of the Women Leaders of Memorial Hermann, she supports the development and engagement of female employees, furthering the system's goals toward greater diversity and inclusivity.
