Man arrested following murder of woman in Walthamstow

A man has been arrested following the murder of a woman in Walthamstow.

Police were called to an address in Lynmouth Road, E17 at around 03.00hrs on Monday, 22 July following reports of a woman injured.

Officers were swiftly at the scene where they discovered a 32-year-old woman with stab wounds. Very sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

We are in the process of informing her next of kin.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody. It is believed he was known to the victim.

Chief Superintendent Rhona Hunt, responsible for policing in Walthamstow, said: "Our thoughts are with this young woman's family following their devastating loss. Urgent enquiries by officers led to the swift arrest of a suspect who is now in custody.

"We will now work to establish the circumstances that led to this terrible tragedy. Officers will remain in the area to provide reassurance. Please speak to them if you any concerns."
