Gateshead Council launches Instagram account

We are happy to announce the launch of an account on Instagram for the first time. The channel is set to launch on 1 August 2024 and will focus on community pride and good news stories from around the Borough.

Instagram isn't something that has been used previously by us, but the decision to launch the platform came after wanting to showcase our people, place and culture in a positive and creative way.

The Instagram channel will target a younger audience to our other communications channels and will look to engage in a visual and interactive way, whilst educating on what Gateshead Council does, and creating a powerful sense of civic pride.

The content will aim to make residents feel proud to be part of Gateshead and they can use the hashtag #mygateshead to share their own feel-good content.

Residents can still expect to find any crucial news updates via Facebook, X and Linkedin, and can contact us online for enquiries.

Throughout the month of August, residents can expect to see content on Instagram from Pride in Gateshead, our libraries, and much more.
