New Art at City Hall Exhibition Explores a Masterful Blend of Tradition and Innovation

The City of Irvine is honored to announce the opening of the new Art at City Hall exhibition, Minna Chow: Traditional Chinese Brush Painting. The exhibition, opening Friday, December 13, features works by Irvine artist Minna Chow, who breathes life into the natural world through the ancient art of Chinese brush painting. A free opening reception with the artist will be held Tuesday, December 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Irvine City Hall.

Inspired by her mother, Chow intricately examined and practiced traditional Chinese brush painting techniques while studying Chinese Language and Literature - mastering the various calligraphy and brush painting styles.

After immigrating to the United States in 1971, Chow pursued a career in accounting and, upon retirement, returned to her artistic passion. Now, she focuses on creating stunning brush paintings that capture the beauty and tranquility of nature.

Minna Chow: Traditional Chinese Brush Painting showcases her latest works, highlighting her deep connection to tradition and her love for the natural world.

City Hall is open to the public 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. The exhibit, parking, and opening reception are free and open to the public. For more information, visit cityofirvine.org/artatcityhall.
