Could you be a Shared Lives Carer

If you're compassionate, reliable and would like to make a real difference to a person's life, you could be who we're looking for.

Herefordshire Council's Shared Lives team is calling on compassionate and reliable individuals, couples, and families to join a unique and highly personalised form of care that makes a real difference to people's lives.

Shared Lives offers support for adults with a wide range of needs to live or stay safely in a welcoming home environment. Approved Shared Lives carers share their homes, family lives and local community connections with individuals carefully matched to them. This rewarding role goes beyond care, providing a safe home and companionship enabling independence to the individual.

Shared Lives arrangements can be long-term or offer short-term breaks during the day or night.

Councillor Carole Gandy, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Wellbeing, said:
"The Shared Lives service is a wonderful way to provide personalised care and support while giving carers a fulfilling and rewarding experience. The council is dedicated to improving care services and Shared Lives is a shining example of how innovative approaches can transform lives in our community."

Benefits for Shared Lives carers include:

You will be rewarded with good rates of pay, full training and support and the knowledge that you are providing a meaningful difference in someone's life.

Also included:

  • Paid breaks of up to 28 days per year.
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Shared Lives Coordinator.

Applicants must have a genuine interest in helping others and be able to provide a safe, supportive home.
