August 22, 2024 - The City of St. Petersburg has multiple boards and committees with vacancies that are seeking residents to serve.

Advisory Commission on Aging - one vacancy
The Advisory Commission on Aging has been serving as an advisory body to the City of St. Petersburg. The 15 members of the Board support, leverage and advocate for programs and resources that protect and ensure quality of life for St. Petersburg's aging community. The Commission's vision is a community where seniors can receive the services and resources needed to live a safe, independent and dignified life.

Arts Advisory Committee - two vacancies
The mission of the Arts Advisory Committee (AAC) is to support and encourage the diverse artistic and cultural activities within the City that will meet the artistic and cultural needs of the community and its varied citizenry. The AAC will work to promote these goals to benefit the citizens of the City, to ensure that attention is given to fostering and stimulating new and emerging arts and cultural expressions, and to preserving the multicultural and multiethnic nature of art and culture in the City.

Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Board - two vacancies
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) was formed as a part of creating and implementing the 2003 CityTrails program. BPAC members have been actively involved in discussions that impact the City's built environment and transportation system.

Code Enforcement Board - two vacancies
The Code Enforcement Board conducts hearings related to the enforcement of any codes or ordinances of the City. The Board consists of seven members and appointments to the Board are approved by City Council. Each month, the Board hears cases on the agenda. At the conclusion of each case hearing, the Board issues findings of fact and conclusions of law.

Community Planning & Preservation Commission - one vacancy
The Community Planning and Preservation Commission (CPPC) makes decisions relating to the City's comprehensive plan, including land use and zoning maps, and historic preservation. The Commission is comprised of citizen volunteers, some of whom are required to have experience in the fields of architectural design, architectural history, land use planning, land use law, construction, and real estate. All are encouraged to apply.

Nuisance Abatement Board - one vacancy
The Nuisance Abatement Board hears and decides cases involving properties in the City allegedly being used for illegal activity.

This board plays an important role in reducing crime and improving the safety and welfare of St. Petersburg citizens and visitors by encouraging property owners to take responsibility to prevent their properties from becoming the site of ongoing nuisance activities.

Public Arts Commission - one vacancy
The mission of the Public Arts Commission is to expand public experience and exposure to culture through various art forms, to enhance the appearance of public facilities; to improve the aesthetic environment of the City on behalf of its citizens; and to provide for the incorporation of art in the design and construction of public facilities within the City.
