UNM Art Museum hosts research showcase

The UNM Art Museum (UNMAM) hosts a symposium as part of Research & Discovery Week 2024. This event, which will be held on Nov. 15, allows students, faculty, and staff to present their research and discoveries in science, technology, art, and biology.

According to UNMAM, this event will "bring together artists, researchers, and those on the forefront of creative exploration at the University of New Mexico." They seek submissions for interdisciplinary presentations and panels about work and research that bridge artistic and scientific pursuits.

They state examples of these include:

  • Lecture presentations of artworks or artistic processes. (2D works on paper, 3D works, video, new media, installation artworks, digital art, internet art, interactive medias etc.)
  • Past or ongoing research at the intersections of art, design, visualization, science, biology, and technology.
  • Scientific findings at the intersections of art, design, visualization, science, biology, and technology.
  • Other topics/projects as presenters see fit, corresponding to the themes of BioSymposium.

Click here for additional information and to find the submission form. Submissions are due Oct. 16. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance on Oct. 23.

UNMAM's current exhibition "Hindsight Insight 5.0," can provide inspiration as submissions for BioSymposium can be connected by its context and themes. They are allowing broader topics and themes such as: art, science, technology, cyborgs and robotics and sustainability.
