By Andrea O'Neill '06Commonwealth University recently welcomed more than 50 employers to its Bloomsburg campus for the Accounting and Financial
Services and the Marketing, Management, Supply Chain, Sales, Technology and Analytics expos.
G-Squared, Enterprise, Baker Tilly, Capital blue cross, DHL, Dyco, Sherwin Williams, and JB Hunt were just several of the companies represented at the latest expos this fall. Alumni from all three Commonwealth locations were on hand to represent their company and recruit current students from their alma mater.
"This was one of the best, if not the best, tabling events we've ever done at a university," said Jamie Shortsleeve, Recruitment Lead for UPMC. "The staff was so kind and the students were engaged, knowledgeable, [and] personable."
The "boutique" style career fairs are designed to assist students and employers make connections relevant to their industry. Such industry-specific expos are open to all students on all campuses, and in all majors and class years. They provide an opportunity for first- and second-year students to practice networking and learning about careers, while also giving third- and fourth-year students a way to find jobs and internships.
