Working in Technology: Interns Driving William Blair Forward

Interns Shay Finn, Ava Kaplan, Shagun Khare, Ameila Klebba, Devyani Mishra, Meghna Swaminathan, and Stella Wang.

William Blair hosted its sixth annual Working in Technology (WiT) Summer Internship Showcase on August 14, featuring the work of seven college students who interned with the firm's Information Technology department.

Established in 2018, the WiT program supports an ongoing effort to strengthen the information technology workforce by empowering and advocating for young professionals to have thriving careers in technology, bringing visibility to the importance of diversity in technology roles, and creating hands-on learning experience.

Beth Satterfield, William Blair's chief operating officer and one of WiT's executive sponsors, kicked off the event by thanking the students and all those involved with the showcase for their dedication to bringing value and dedication to the program.

"To date, 10 WiT interns have been hired into full-time positions at the firm," Satterfield said. "This program is thriving, and I'm excited to see it grow in the upcoming years. The insight and skills shown by the WiT interns allow William Blair to transform our work with clients and colleagues alike."

Throughout the showcase, attendees learned from the interns on various topics, including cloud computing technology, project management implementations, Salesforce integration, programming languages, and application development.

The 2024 WiT Interns

This year's interns supported a variety of project tracks across William Blair, such as project management and business analysis, platform engineering, application development, software development, and data science.

Returning for her second year as a WiT intern, Shay Finn said the program is a way to explore new concepts while engaging in professional development and networking.

"The technology department and its leaders have fully allowed me to discover new possibilities and foster my passion for project management," Finn said. "Last year, I gained skills through leadership opportunities. This year, I brought those strengthened skills into the program to continue to pave my place in technology."
