Suriname National Day

On behalf of the United States of America, I send my best wishes to Suriname on the 49th anniversary of your independence.

The United States and Suriname remain united in our goal of a brighter future for all our citizens. Together, we continue to address global challenges, including global climate change, and support for democratic governance and the rule of law. Through the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative, we are disrupting transnational crime. Through the U.S. - Caribbean Partnership to Address the Climate Crisis 2030, the United States and Suriname work together to implement sustainable agricultural practices and achieve clean energy goals.

We look forward to further deepening the ties between our countries. We wish Suriname a happy Independence Day.
