Honoring 36 Years of Excellence: Chief Mary Gutierrez Retires

After an incredible 36-year career in fire service, including 4 years as Seaside's Fire Chief, Mary Gutierrez has announced her retirement effective December 31, 2024. Chief Gutierrez's leadership has left an indelible mark on our city.

Since joining Seaside Fire in 2021, she has:
✅ Led lifesaving efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, hosting over 100 vaccine clinics
✅ Renovated Seaside's fire station and planned a second station on Fort Ord property
✅ Strengthened the team with new hires, expanded programs, and upgraded emergency response vehicles
✅ Fostered international collaboration with a sister city partnership in Oaxaca, MexicoChief Gutierrez's legacy is one of dedication, innovation, and community service.

She reflects, "It has been an honor to work for the City of Seaside and serve as the Fire Chief for an exceptional fire department. I am honored to close this chapter of my life here."We extend our deepest gratitude to Chief Gutierrez for her outstanding service and wish her the best in her retirement!
