🚨CONGRESSWOMAN NANCY MACE SENDS LETTER TO INVESTIGATE MAJOR CYBERATTACK ON NATIONAL PUBLIC DATA

(Washington, D.C., August 22, 2024) - Today, Congresswoman Nancy Mace and Chairman James Comer announced the Committee on Oversight and Accountability has sent a formal request to Jerico Pictures, Inc., also known as National Public Data, regarding a significant cyberattack.

"The lack of transparency and swift action is unacceptable," said Congresswoman Nancy Mace."With nearly 3 billion records compromised, Americans deserve immediate answers about the breach and its fallout. Our office, alongside Chairman Comer, is determined to get to the bottom of this issue to ensure that the safety and privacy of American families are protected."

Here is what we hope to find in our briefing:

• Details of the Breach:Information on the timing and nature of the cyberattack, including how it occurred.
• Description of Stolen Data:A detailed account of the personal information that was compromised, such as Social Security numbers, phone numbers, email addresses, and mailing addresses.
• Company Response:Overview of the actions taken by National Public Data in response to the breach.
• Impact Assessment:Analysis of the potential impacts of the breach on the U.S. government, businesses, and the American people.
• Transparency Issues:Explanation for any delays in notifying victims about the breach and any legal actions resulting from it.

The Committee has requested a briefing by August 30, 2024, to understand the details of the attack and the measures National Public Data is taking in response.
