Betty McCollum Stands up for Members of the U.S. Armed Forces Serving Abroad and their Right to Have their Votes Count

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - In response to lawsuits targeting the voting rights of U.S. service members serving abroad, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04), Ranking Member on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, released the following statement:

"Recent lawsuits brought by MAGA Republicans are an outrageous attempt to threaten the voting rights of members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including Minnesota National Guard Members, and other federal employees who are serving our nation around the world," said Congresswoman McCollum. "This blatant effort to disenfranchise Americans in uniform while they are actively protecting our democracy overseas must be forcefully condemned by public officials and defeated in the courts. There's never been an issue with overseas voting in the past, and there's no evidence to suggest this decades-old system enables widespread fraud. It's simple: The votes of our women and men in uniform must count."
