Innovating for Impact in our Global Food System

From the farm to the grocery store, our agricultural systems face growing challenges worldwide.

While our global food system is a modern marvel that feeds 8 billion people and counting, the agricultural sector contributes to biodiversity loss, greenhouse gas emissions, and freshwater overconsumption. Meanwhile, 800 million people are hungry or malnourished, farms struggle to survive, and we waste a third of what is produced.

In this session at the Business & Society Program's Aspen ESG Summit 2024, leaders discussed the importance of an ecosystem approach to scaling regenerative practices in agriculture--centering farmers and their unique context, partnering with NGOs and local communities, and building financing that bridges the transition to a sustainable food system.

Featured Speakers:

  • Louise Iverson, Senior Manager of Global Impact, General Mills & Aspen Institute Food Leaders Fellow
  • Shalini Unnikrishnan, Managing Director and Senior Partner, BCG

This session was moderated by Kristina Saccone, Director of Creative Services at the Aspen Institute.
