The City of Boise has been awarded the Bloomberg Philanthropies 'What Works Cities Certification' at the Silver Level for establishing exceptional data capabilities to inform policy decision-making, allocate funding, improve services, evaluate program effectiveness, and engage residents.
"I'm thrilled that Boise has been recognized for our data-informed approach to making life better for all Boiseans," said Mayor Lauren McLean. "Whether it's deciding where new parks are built to meet our 10-minute walk to a park goal, measuring our progress on affordable housing, or tracking the health of our river, and more, we use data every day to create the most impactful and equitable city for everyone."
The What Works Cities Certification Standard measures a city's use of data based on 43 criteria. A city that achieves between 51% and 67% of the certification criteria are recognized at the silver level.
"Achieving What Works Cities Certification is a top distinction with a rigorous bar, set to recognize the most advanced cities implementing data and evidence-based practices and policies," said Rochelle Haynes, Managing Director, What Works Cities Certification in a letter issued to the city. "The City of Boise's commitment to these practices and policies was evident through your completion of the Assessment which measured Boise's progress on 43 criteria outlined in the What Works Cities Standard."
