Saturday Night Lane Closures on SR 236/Lavista Rd for Pedestrian Improvements Project
ATLANTA METRO - Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will install lane closures on State Route 236/Lavista Rd this weekend to continue construction activities related to the Pedestrian Improvements Project on SR 236/Lavista Road between Leafmore Place and Pangborn Road in DeKalb County.

Weather and on-site conditions permitting, one lane will be closed on Lavista Road westbound throughout the project area beginning 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 10 until 3 a.m. Sunday morning as crews pave the roadway.

This project is designed to improve pedestrian access and safety on Lavista Road between Leafmore Place and Pangborn Road with six-foot wide sidewalks that tie into existing sidewalks on Oak Grove Road and Pangborn Road; ADA-compliant crosswalks; and upgraded traffic signals. The project will also address some drainage issues in the project area. When construction activities are complete, crews will resurface and restripe the roadway.

The $3.8 million project is scheduled for completion in late summer 2024.
