BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University will display the works of renowned contemporary artist Willis "Bing" Davis from Aug. 30 - Sept. 20 in the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery at the Fine Arts Center.

Featuring new works alongside curated pieces from Davis' collection, the free, public 20/20 Exhibition launches at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, with an opening reception and artist's talk.

Influenced by African and African American textiles, Davis' exhibition will showcase a selection of newly created works and the rare opportunity to view 10 historical African artifacts that provide cultural and historic context to his work. Additionally, 10 works by notable modern and contemporary African American artists will be featured.

Through his extensive work as an artist and educator, Davis has advanced equality of Black artists while also mentoring young African American artists and helping them to grow professionally. Davis is also the founder and director of the EbonNia Gallery in Dayton, Ohio, which serves as a platform for Black artists to exhibit their work and engage with the community through workshops and cultural events. He also works to elevate the national profile of Black artists through his involvement with the African American Visual Artists Guild.

The BGSU Fine Arts Center Galleries are open Tuesday - Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m, with free parking in nearby Lot N on weekends.
