Full Highway Closures Planned for State Route 32 For Continued Park Fire Restorations

Starting Thursday, September 12th, State Route 32 will be fully closed multiple times a day for continued emergency restoration efforts stemming from the Park Fire. Caltrans District 2 and J.F. Shea Construction Inc. thank the local communities and traveling public for their patience during these important restoration efforts.

Between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays - Saturdays, State Route 32 will be limited to half-hour openings under one-way traffic control ONLY AT:

  • 10 a.m.
  • Noon
  • 2 p.m.

Closure points on SR 32 are from the Butte/Tehama County line to approximately 2 miles northeast of the county line. Motorists are advised to be in line at the closure points at these times to in order to travel through the area.

While no work or delays are planned outside of these closure times, motorists may experience traffic control with maximum delays of up to 30-minutes, Mondays through Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. and all day on Sundays if needed for operations. This full closure schedule is currently anticipated to last through early October.

These longer closures will allow post-fire emergency restorations to be made more quickly to fully reopen the route with no restrictions and for the continued safety of the traveling public. The Park Fire has caused damage to state property in District 2 on SR 36 from just west of The Dales to east of the junction with SR 172 in Mill Creek, on SR 32 between the Butte/Tehama County Line and Deer Creek, and in areas on SR 172 between Mineral and Mill Creek.
