Lutes Named Campus Pastor

At the beginning of the fall semester, Lee University alumnus Wesley Lutes was named Campus Pastor and Director of Spiritual Life, following the university board of director's invitation to return to his alma mater in this pivotal role.

Prior to this appointment, Lutes served on staff at Mount Paran Church in Atlanta, Georgia, for the past 14 years, where he had been the children's pastor, middle school pastor, and most recently, the youth pastor. He is also an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God.

"We look forward to all that Wes will bring to our student life, our chapel services, and our campus ministry in general," said Lee President Paul Conn in an announcement to the Lee community this summer.

"Ever since I graduated from Lee in 2010, I dreamed of one day returning to serve on Lee's staff," said Lutes. "When I was presented the opportunity to come to Lee as the campus pastor, my wife and I immediately began dreaming about the various ways we could impact the Kingdom of God through serving the spiritual needs of the students."

In addition to earning his bachelor's degree in music teacher education from Lee, Lutes holds a master's degree in biblical studies from the Birmingham Theological Seminary.

Lutes is committed to helping students succeed in navigating the complexities of today's world, preparing them to engage thoughtfully with ethical dilemmas through a biblical worldview, and fostering a holistic understanding of faith and practice in their communities.

"One way to consider ministry is meeting the spiritual needs of others through the power of the Gospel," Lutes added. "My family and I consider it an honor to join the Lee University team in preparing students for responsible Christian living in a complex world."

Lutes is married to Missy, who also attended Lee, and they have three children: Jay (10), Lane (7), and Zeke (3).
