First Phase of Workday Student Now Live

The U of A has taken the first step in the transition from UAConnect to Workday Student. This is part of a multi-year project to move all U of A System schools to the cloud-based student information system. The university is joined by all four-year schools in the system going live with Workday Student. The two-year campus schools went live last year.

The deployment of Workday Student happens over five major milestones beginning now and concluding in September 2025. The first milestone includes recruiting and admission functionality for fall 2025 applicants. However, since the university utilizes Slate for recruiting and admissions, applicants and campus staff will see few changes in their day-to-day operations.

Dedicated campus subject matter experts have been collaborating with the Project One team to build and implement this first phase. Staff within the areas of recruiting and admissions areas were trained over the last month to understand new processes and prepare to support incoming applicants. Their service to this project has been essential.

"This is a massive project that takes the efforts of many people across campus to be successful," said Dave Dawson, senior associate vice provost for enrollment services and director of Workday Student. "The student information system team is grateful for all the work done by the functional and technical staff who are participating in the project."

The next deployment milestone will happen in two phases this fall, the first in October and the second in November. Functionality for student records, financial aid and course scheduling will be included in this milestone.

Additional information about the Workday Student project can be found on the Workday Student at the U of A or Project One Student SharePoint pages.
