Buffalo National River will begin renovations to the Lower Tyler Bend River Access beginning Monday August 12th, 2024. The lower access point serves as the primary river access for the Tyler Bend Area. To facilitate the renovation process, the lower access will be closed for the duration of the project.

The project includes removing existing damaged components, construction of a one-way loop connecting the entrance road to the parking area, and removal and relocation of the nearby restroom facility and related wastewater components. "This project will alleviate traffic congestion, increase ease of access, and enhance critical habitat for the threatened Rabbitsfoot mussel," said Superintendent Angela Boyers.

The two-phase construction will begin with a deconstruction phase, followed by a construction phase projected to start in November 2024. Current conditions of the area can be found at https://www.nps.gov/buff/planyourvisit/conditions.htm.
