At about 2:45 AM, on Thursday, November 7, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested three suspects following a traffic stop in Dorchester.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Columbia Road and Washington Street when they observed a motor vehicle operating at a high rate of speed. Officers lost sight of the vehicle, and relocated it at the intersection of Harvard Street and Washington Street. The vehicle was in the left-hand only lane, and went around a vehicle stopped at the red light in order to take a right onto Washington Street.
Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to stop for officers and made a slow rolling stop in the area of 508 Park Street. Officers made contact with the operator and four passengers.
Officers requested the identification of the operator and front passenger as he was not wearing a seatbelt. Officers requested for the registration of the vehicle, which the operator stated he stated was a rental and unable to produce the registration.
After further investigation, officers requested all the occupants to exit the vehicle. Officers conducted a pat frisk of all the parties which yielded negative results. Officers continued their pat frisk to the motor vehicle, and recovered a firearm from inside. Officers began to search the vehicle and located four plastic bags of Crack Cocaine.
The firearm was later determined to be a Beretta M9 with seven rounds in the magazine which was capable of holding fifteen rounds.
The 17-year-old Juvenile male was placed under arrest and charged with Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Delinquent to wit; Receiving Stolen Property under $1,200.
Amani Ogaldez, 21, of Boston, was arrested for a warrant issued out of South Boston District Court for Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Trespassing, Disturbing the Peace, and Resisting Arrest.
Steven Bellamy, 28, of Boston, was placed under arrest and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, and Fail to Stop for Police. He was also issued a Massachusetts Uniform Citation for multiple violations of Motor Vehicle Laws.
All three suspects are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
