Sacramento County Public Health is urging residents to take the necessary steps to protect themselves from prevalent winter illnesses after last week's
Respiratory Disease Report confirmed one flu death and one respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)-related death in the County.
Vaccination is the most effective preventative measure to protect your holiday plans from being derailed by an illness. Vaccines for flu, COVID-19 and RSV are widely available across Sacramento County and can be scheduled on
MyTurn.ca.gov or by contacting a healthcare provider. Residents can safely receive multiple vaccines at the same time for added convenience.
"Staying up to date on vaccinations and following simple precautions will help you protect yourself, your loved ones and your holiday plans," said Dr. Olivia Kasirye, Sacramento County Public Health Officer.
It's recommended everyone 6 months and older receive the flu and COVID-19 vaccines. The RSV vaccine is recommended for infants, high-risk toddlers, pregnant individuals, adults 75 and older, and high-risk adults aged 60-74. Vaccines are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance providers. Residents who need assistance are encouraged to contact
Sacramento County Public Health .
