Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) hosted a Girl Scout STEAM event on Nov. 2, aiming to introduce Girl Scouts to various scientific fields. Three professors and three students from the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences led several hands-on activities at the Old Science Building, allowing the Girl Scouts to explore the incredible diversity of life on our planet.

Several tables were set up with specimens for viewing, some available for handling, providing an interactive experience. One table featured a creative activity where the girls made cards decorated with pressed native grasses. Microscopes with various organisms were also provided for close-up exploration, encouraging curiosity and discussion among the participants. Professors and students promoted an engaging learning environment by answering questions about biology.
