DTN reporter Jennifer Carrico reports economist Dan Basse of AgResource Company said grain farmers across the world are losing money. Net farm revenue is down $69 billion or 37% over the past two years, the largest decline ever over a two-year period . . . Basse also said the times have never been better for cow-calf producers. Estimates suggest margins for cow-calf producers will be $600 per head this year . . . Paul Hammel of the Nebraska Examiner reports construction is nearly complete on what will eventually become Nebraska's largest feedlot near Haigler in southwest Nebraska. The $200 million, 150,000 head lot is expected to employ 120 people with an annual payroll of $25 million . . . The checkoff rate on corn in Nebraska will increase to 1 cent per bushel effective October 1. The rate currently is ½ cent . . . Karen Braun at Thomson Reuters says U.S. soybean shipments to non-China destinations in 2023 were a seven year low of 21.9 metric tonnes. In turn, Brazil shipped its largest volume ever of 27.4 million metric tonnes.
