Poor Farm Ditch North Maintenance

Beginning October 9, Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) will resume maintenance work along Poor Farm Ditch North, between University Blvd. and Bissonnet St. Over the coming weeks, HCFCD and its contractors will be replacing concrete panels and patching areas of the slope-paved ditch. Crews will begin at Plumb St. and Edloe St. and progress north to Sunset Blvd.

To protect the Edloe Pathway from construction equipment, steel plates will be placed on the walking track at locations where equipment will be traveling across the pathway. Additionally, fence panels will be removed and replaced with temporary fencing to allow crews to access the ditch. Vegetation along the pathway that is impacted by this work will be replaced by HCFCD. The pathway will remain open and residents are encouraged to walk safely across any plates, as they may be wet, and to watch for construction equipment and workers crossing.

This work is not in conjunction with the HCFCD planned improvements to the south side of the ditch between University Blvd. and Holcombe Blvd.

During this time, there will be a rolling work zone along Edloe St., reducing traffic to one lane for a small portion of the roadway at a time to allow room for construction vehicles and equipment. The closure will only be in effect during work hours and will be reopened daily. Residents should exercise caution around the construction site and abide by all traffic laws. Drivers should plan their travel routes accordingly and expect delays.

If you have questions about this project, please contact Public Works Director, Danny Cameron by email at [email protected] or by phone at 713-662-5846.
