County’s Community Services Department to Host Panelist Discussion on Reversing the Effects of the Crack Cocaine Epidemic

Treating an Illness, Ending a War

​Join the Palm Beach County Community Services Department, the Drug Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County Inc., Unify of Palm Beach County, Southeast Florida Behavioral Health Network and Florida Rights Restoration Coalition Inc. for a discussion on the effects of the crack cocaine epidemic and what can be done locally to reverse them.

The free event will take place on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at the Drug Abuse Foundation, 400 S. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach, 33444.

The purpose of the event is to understand the local impact of the crack cocaine epidemic and the War on Drugs and explore strategies and solutions to build community resilience.

​The moderator is Rae Whitely, from Faith in Florida, and panelists include Alton Taylor, from the Drug Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County Inc.; Ann Berner, from the Southeast Florida Behavioral Health Network; Chuck Ridley from Unify of Palm Beach County; and Desmond Meade, from the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition Inc.

Local residents, government employees, members of nonprofits and foundations, business leaders and the media are invited to attend the event.
