Prospective Community College Trustee Candidates Nominating Petitions Open Tuesday, August 20, 2024

The Consolidated Election for members of the Board of Trustees of Community College District No. 511 (Rock Valley College) will be held April 1, 2025. At this election, three board members shall be elected for a term of six years each.

Prospective Community College Trustee Candidates Nominating Petitions Open Tuesday, August 20, 2024

Said election shall be conducted by the County Clerks of the Counties within this District and the Board of Election Commissioners of the City of Rockford in the manner provided in the "Illinois Election Code" for conducting such elections.

Nominating petition forms will be available beginning Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the office of the vice president of finance in the Support Services Building on the main campus located at 3301 North Mulford Road, Rockford, IL.

The first day to circulate nominating petitions is Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

Statements of candidacy and nominating petitions shall be filed in the Financial Services office in the Support Services Building at Rock Valley College, 3301 N. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CST each day except Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays beginning on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, and ending on Monday, November 18, 2024.

The petition documents must be filed no earlier than 8:30 a.m. on November 12, 2024, and no later than 4:30 p.m. on November 18, 2024.

To be eligible to serve, a candidate must be, on the date of election, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years old, a resident of the State of Illinois and the community college district for at least one year immediately preceding the election, and a registered voter.

Elections are nonpartisan and board candidates are not required to indicate a political party affiliation. Candidates should be aware of financial conflict-of-interest limitations set forth in the Community College Act and any other applicable statutes.
