HURON, S.D. - A wide variety of new and popular events will be held during the South Dakota State Fair. For a full list of events, to register, or learn more, visit www.sdstatefair.com.
Red - "A Taylor Swift Tribute" welcomed by American Bank & Trust on Monday, September 2, is a jaw dropping, faithful recreation of a live Taylor Swift concert. RED shows offer an authentic recreation of a live Taylor Swift show. Lauren Corzine's on-stage appearance and show leaves "Swifties" feeling like they are watching Taylor Swift herself live in concert! In fact, the LA Times recently took notice of Lauren's incredible likeness to Taylor Swift. At a RED show, fans are treated to an epic journey through Taylor Swift's entire discography. The crowd sings along as RED performs songs ranging from Taylor's self-titled debut album all the way through her most recent releases. The first 500 people through the gates get a limited-edition SD State Fair friendship bracelet!
The American Revolutionary Experience at Younger Hall will showcase the way of life for an ordinary person affected by the events of the American Revolutionary War using an innovative pop-up exhibition. The event is meant to connect modern audiences with the fascinating story of our nation's origin and will introduce visitors to a cast of real, historical people and the places they lived, worked, and fought for our freedom. The event will be held Wednesday, August 28, through Monday, September 2.
New entertainment offerings are available each day with the six stages of free entertainment. This year will feature Funk-Uh-Fried, a show that brings old-school funk with a modern soul flair for the whole family to enjoy; Poppa Norton Bear, a mix of Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, Waylon, Willie, and Haggard country music, filled with redneck humor and midwestern charm; Mad Chad the chainsaw juggler's family friendly show is sure to get your adrenaline pumping; Robot Rangers; and Wildlife Adventure Center Reptile and Animal Show.
Also new this year, DAV Bingo will be held every day except Thursday, August 29 in the Veterans Building from noon to 7pm. All proceeds and donations go to Support our Rural Transportation of Veterans Program.
The "Seeing Double" lookalike contest will be held on Monday, September 2 at the Farm Bureau Dakotaland Stage and will have mother/daughter and father/son categories.
The Voice of the Family Battle is an exciting competition where families compete to see who can call each other the loudest and most creatively, showcasing their vocal skills and family spirit on Monday, September 2 at the Farm Bureau Dakotaland Stage.
The Legoland competition will be held on Wednesday, August 28, in the Arts/Education Building. Each contestant will build any design they choose without a time limit. All creations will be on display for the duration of the State Fair and judging will be held on Monday, September 2.
Back by Popular Demand, ARCY sponsored by Dakotaland Federal Credit Union will paint a different mural each day of the fair on 8' X 12' walls. ARCY is known for his paint splashed style of large-scale street art, and the State Fair displays these paintings around the fairgrounds the following year.
