Al Gore Honors Climate Reality Leader Dr. Paola Fiore with Alfredo Sirkis Memorial Green Ring Award

Rome, Italy (1 July 2024) - Yesterday, former US Vice President and founder and chairman of The Climate Reality Project, Al Gore, presented the Alfredo Sirkis Memorial Green Ring Award to Climate Reality Leader Dr. Paola Fiore at the conclusion of a successful Climate Reality Leadership Corps training in Rome, Italy.

The Alfredo Sirkis Memorial Green Ring Award honors Climate Reality Leaders who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to climate activism and education. Dr. Fiore, trained in Miami in 2015, is the founder and director of ETICAMBIENTE, a sustainability management and communications consulting firm specializing in business sustainability and social responsibility strategies. She serves as the volunteer national coordinator for Italy, mentoring and mobilizing Climate Reality Leaders across the country.

Dr. Fiore's notable achievements include establishing Climate Reality's National Italian Team in 2017, organizing numerous educational events, and building partnerships with major Italian and European NGOs. She has actively participated in international climate events such as 24 Hours of Reality, the UN COPs, and the Youth COP in Milan, where she facilitated the submission of demands from youth advocates to the Italian delegation.

"Dr. Paola Fiore embodies the spirit of the Alfredo Sirkis Memorial Green Ring Award through her relentless dedication to climate action and advocacy," said Phyllis Cuttino, president and CEO of The Climate Reality Project. "Her leadership and tireless efforts have inspired countless individuals and strengthened the climate movement in Italy and beyond."

The Climate Reality Leadership Corps training in Rome brought together attendees from across Europe to hear from leading figures in climate justice, finance, communications, and policy. The event provided participants with the tools, knowledge, and networks necessary to become effective advocates for climate action and a just transition at the community, state, and national levels.

The training covered topics such as building resilient agricultural systems and cities, identifying greenwashing tactics, and promoting a just transition to clean energy accessible to all. Attendees learned about coalition-building, crafting campaigns, and more, equipping them with practical tools to drive change.

Dr. Paola Fiore, Italy Volunteer Coordinator, Alfredo Sirkis Green Ring Award Winner, The Climate Reality Project expressed her gratitude stating, "I am deeply honored and thrilled to receive this award, a special recognition that highlights the critical work we are doing in the fight against the climate crisis. Trainings organized by the Climate Reality Leadership Corps are essential, as they empower individuals and groups with the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for more sustainable and regenerative solutions and drive real-world, positive impact in their own communities and at all levels of society.

As a powerful example of our collective action, I was part of the protest over the weekend against the Italian ENI, one of the top oil companies in the world, owned 30.5% by the Italian government. We united, as our first collective climate action, to expose the unacceptable greenwashing and demand true accountability.

This is just one of the many ways we are making a difference, and I am grateful to be part of a unique global network of committed people, dedicated to create and promote a real renewable energy transition faster and a more just present and future for all human beings and living creatures on our Beautiful Mother Earth."

The Climate Reality Project aims to recruit, train, and mobilize passionate climate advocates from across the region. They join a global network of more than 3.5 million people who have either attended a training, taken action through one of Climate Reality's campaigns, or taken part in one of its 11 global branch programs or US chapters.
