Rep. Jan Jones Nominated House Speaker Pro-Tempore

ATLANTA - On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the House Republican Caucus nominated State Representative Jan Jones (R-Milton) as its candidate to serve as House Speaker Pro-Tempore by unanimous acclamation.

"I am grateful to my House colleagues for nominating me to serve again in this capacity," said Speaker Pro-Tempore Jones. "I am proud of our caucus for the work we did during the 2024 legislative session to cut taxes, support education and invest in public safety. As we enter this new legislative term, I am certain that our caucus will once again pass legislation that supports Georgia's families and bolsters our economy."

As the Majority Caucus nominee, Rep. Jones will be up for a formal vote by the Georgia House of Representatives on the first day of the 2025 legislative session, which is scheduled for Monday, January 13, 2025.

Representative Jan Jones currently represents the citizens of District 47, which includes portions of Cherokee and Fulton counties. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2002 and currently serves as the House Speaker Pro-Tempore. She also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and the Education, Ethics, Reapportionment and Redistricting, Regulated Industries and Technology and Infrastructure Innovation committees and as an Ex-Officio member of the Rules Committee.
