53 year old man dies following a collision on the river

A 53-year-old man from Rivière-à-la-Truite, New Brunswick, has died after a collision between a jet ski and a recreational boat on the Tracadie River in Petit-Tracadie, NB.

On July 6, 2024, at approximately 12:48 a.m., members of the Tracadie RCMP detachment responded to a report of a collision between a jet ski and a recreational boat on the Tracadie River in Petit-Tracadie, NB. The jet ski driver died at the scene as a result of his injuries. Three individuals on the boat were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the boat, initially missing, was later located on shore and taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Members of the Tracadie Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and a member from the New Brunswick Coroner's Office also attended the scene. Specialized RCMP services, such as Police Dog Services (PDS) and the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), were also deployed to assist in the search for the driver of the boat. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the man's exact cause of death.

An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist is assisting, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
