Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Stella Avenue

Released: November 4, 2024 at 8:55 a.m.
Winnipeg, MB- At 9:33 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 500 block of Stella Avenue.

At the scene, firefighters saw flames and smoke coming from the house. Firefighters initially attacked the fire from the outside because the structure was not safe enough to enter. Then they were able to attack the fire from the inside until the fire was under control at 10:08 p.m. Firefighters searched the house and no occupants were located. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This structure sustained significant damage and will be demolished today. This house was damaged by fire in September 2021.

Anyone who sees someone actively entering a vacant building, or removing boards from windows or doors from a building, should call 911 to report the incident immediately.

If you notice boarded windows or doors that have been breached, but you do not see someone actively entering or trying to enter the building, report the incident to 311 by phone or online.
