Another teenager has been charged following an alleged vandalism of a mosque in the state's Illawarra.

Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime committed predominately by young offenders.

In June 2024, Regional Mongoose was established in the Illawarra to investigate offenders across the Wollongong and Lake Illawarra Police Districts, with assistance from the Region Enforcement Squad.

About 11am today (Thursday 1 August 2024), a 15-year-old boy was arrested at Lake Illawarra Police Station.

He was charged with three counts of damage property in company, enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse and shoplifting.

He was granted condition bail to appear in a children's court on Tuesday 13 August 2024.

Police will allege in court he was involved in the theft of food from a service station in Warrawong on two occasions, last month.
