Excitement of School Students Live-in Experience in Tourism Village Nurtured by Bakti BCA

Jakarta, 12 April 2023 - Desa Binaan Bakti BCA is exploring its tourism potential by inviting a number of students from Jakarta to live and experience daily life in the village. This tourism approach is a creative way for the village to promote its tourism potential and stimulate the local economy.

Formerly, 100 students and teachers from High Scope Kelapa Gading, visited the Tamansari Tourism Village in Banyuwangi. Meanwhile, nearly 200 students and teachers from SMP Santa Laurensia Alam Sutera visited the Pentingsari Tourism Village in Yogyakarta. As the participation of the students in the live-in and field trip programs at the tourism village (desa wisata), they expected to learn about the local cultural and artistic values, as well as participating in preserving the environment through the concept of tourism.

"The presence of students and teachers in the village as part of live-in and field trips is expected to further hone the skills of village officials, which is part of BCA's commitment to developing BCA's Community Empowerment Village," Said EVP Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility of BCA, Hera F. Haryn.

BCA KCU Banyuwangi Head, Edwin Christian added, "We are delighted that Tamansari Village has been chosen as the location for High Scope Indonesia school to conduct live-in and community service programs. Student visits can enhance the capability of village officials in handling large numbers of tourists and provide a memorable experience when visiting the village."

Meanwhile, Francisca Ariningrum I.W. as the representative of the Head of School of High Scope Kelapa Gading said, "High Scope appreciates the cooperation program and opportunity given to our students to directly experience the life of the community in Tamansari Village and learn a lot about the culture of Banyuwangi. We also appreciate BCA for its idea of involving and introducing the BCA Bakti Binaan Village to schools that have live-in and field trip programs because this program not only benefits the foster village but also our students."

The live in and field trip program with a large number of participants provides an opportunity for the village tourism managers to hone their skills in welcoming large groups of visitors. As a facilitator of this program, BCA appreciates the tourism approach that prioritizes cultural values to young people.

The existence of an educational tourism approach allows the village not only to sell natural beauty alone. It can also serve as a means of introducing cultural values to the younger generation, as an important non-academic learning form in preserving national identity.

In addition, educational tourism programs allow villages to develop their economic potential. The more skilled the managers are in developing their village's tourism potential, the more vibrant the local economy will be.

BCA believes that introducing culture as the identity of the nation to the younger generation and efforts to support SMEs in the Partner Village can go hand in hand. "We hope that this program can make Desa Binaan Bakti BCA a strong village economically by utilizing its tourism potential," concluded Hera.

BCA Desa Binaan program has been held since 2012 and nurtures 15 Desa Binaan Bakti BCA (BCA's fostered villages) throughout Indonesia. This program aims to train the Desa Binaan Bakti BCA's administrators to preserve the village's unique cultural traditions and arts and to introduce them to the public, as well as to enhance the village's ability to manage its tourism potential, thereby improving the village's economy.

Live in Experience in Tourism Village Nurtured by Bakti BCA - A number of High Scope Kelapa Gading Jakarta students released baby turtles (tukik) into the sea in Banyuwangi. Around 100 students experienced the daily life of the community (live in) in Taman Sari Banyuwangi Tourism Village. The participation of students in live-in and field trips to the tourism villages is expected to learn local cultural and artistic values, as well as to help preserve the environment in the context of tourism. The approach of educational tourism allows the village to not only sell the natural beauty, but also serves as a means to introduce cultural values to younger generations as a non-academic form of education that is important in preserving the nation's identity. BCA has been running the Desa Binaan program since 2012 and has fostered 15 Desa Binaan Bakti BCA throughout Indonesia.
