50th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers Kicks Off in Yaoundé

The session, themed "Development of Intra-OIC Transport and Communication Infrastructure: Major instrument in the fight against poverty and insecurity," will address political, economic and social issues, as well as the challenges currently facing the Muslim world.

Participants will discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, the Middle East peace process and the evolving situation in Afghanistan and the Sahel region.

This two-day session will also cover topics related to disarmament, cooperation between the OIC and other international and regional organizations, and the OIC Declaration on Human Rights.

Additionally, the meeting will address ongoing efforts in the fight against international terrorism, UN reforms, the expansion of the UN Security Council, Islamophobia and the situation of Muslim communities and minorities in non-OIC member states.

Apart from the OIC-2025 action program, the Council will review decisions related to humanitarian, legal, administrative and financial issues, as well as scientific, technological and cultural matters.

The opening ceremony, attended by the Managing director of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, Mohamed Salem Echerkaoui, was chaired by the Cameroon's Minister of External Relations and was marked by the election of the members of the Bureau of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, as well as a chairmanship handover.
