City of Killeen to host Spring Stream Cleanup event

KILLEEN, Texas (May 7, 2024) - The Stormwater section of the City of Killeen's Engineering division is inviting volunteers to join them for a Spring Stream Cleanup on Saturday, May 18, at W.S. Young Drive and Trimmier Road from 9a.m. to 12 noon.

Residents will help clean the Trimmier Road ditch that runs along Lowe's Boulevard in that area.

The City's drainage areas can flow into creeks or rivers, so these services are scheduled throughout the year. These cleanup events help keep our waterways clear from trash and remove floatables and other items that may carry other pollutants, such as oil and grease, to the waterbodies.

Volunteers have collected hundreds of pounds of debris from the City's previous cleanups and the City looks forward to this next one to help keep Killeen beautiful.

Volunteers are asked to meet in the Lowe's Home Improvement parking lot, at the corner of Lowe's Boulevard and South W.S. Young Drive. Volunteers can check in on site, so there is no need to pre-register. For more information, residents may call (254) 616-3172 or visit https://www.killeentexas.gov/stormwater.
